I hope everyone had a great winter break! We're ready to kick off the last week official of the semester by getting the kids ready for the next units.
4th Grade:
It's finally time to break out the brushes. The students are beginning to use watercolor to apply what they learned from shading by painting spheres and other objects with watercolor. The main principles we are covering this week are our procedures for setting up and cleaning up. The faster we get this down, the quicker we'll be able to start painting!
5th Grade:
This week we are doing texture sample pages. It's when we take a section from a drawing and try to copy the strokes used to make that portion of the drawing. This is our first step to understanding the kind of strokes that Durer used design the intricate fur, scales and wrinkles of his drawings.
6th Grade:
The 6th graders are nearly finished with their Escher drawings, so now is the time to apply it making images of their own. This week we are going to make simple landscapes and shade them using the techniques from Escher. It is important to apply what we learn not just in copying, but in creating works of our own.
