“See, Think, Wonder”: Kinder, First, Second and Third Grade

Each class will start by looking at a
different example of artwork.
·
K-3 will draw a quick sketch of the image
of artwork. In addition, second and third graders will take brief notes,
labeling their drawing. (What they SEE)

After silently looking at the artwork,
thinking about what it represents, and forming some questions about the work,
we will discuss as a class.

Kinder and
First Grade:
We completed a paper cut out and colored collage based
off of “The Snail”, by Matisse
Matisse “The Snail”
We also read “Henri’s Scissors” and learned how to draw
stars, as illustrated in the children’s book.
This upcoming week we will read “The Shape of Things” and
create another cut-paper collage, replicating the illustrations in the text.
First Grade:

about proportions of the face.

blind contour drawings of our hands and learned about this exercise by looking
