Spanish - Ms. Fernandez - Kinder - 2nd grade


Students in K-2 will learn about Easter, Las Pascuas. They will review colors (los colores), numbers (los numeros). Students will understand the question, Donde esta? (Where is it?)
 

PE - Mrs. Jendrusch - Kinder - 2nd Grade

The last three weeks in PE we have been learning and working on the skills for basketball.  Perfect timing for March madness and the kids to be excited about shooting into hoops.  This week will conclude our basketball unit.  If you are looking to buy your child a basketball, please do not buy them a ball any larger then 27.5 in.  This is a youth size ball.  If your child is a 2nd grader and is bigger child then you may look at getting him or her a a woman's size ball, 28.5.

Music - Austin - 5th & 6th Grade

5th Grade
In music this week we will be continuing our study of syncopation in compound meter and developing further our sigh reading ability in that regard. In music history we will wrap up our study of Scott Joplin as we listen to and discuss his opera Treemonisha. We will also be continuing our spring concert preparations as we introduce new sections of our second choral piece.

6th Grade
In music this week we will further develop our understanding of the circle of fifths and use it to identify and generate key signatures. In music history we will continue to examine the style of bel canto and relate it to Verdi’s La Traviata. We will also be continuing our spring concert preparations as we introduce our second choral piece.

Music - Caranto Kinder - 2nd grade

This week in Music with Miss Caranto -
·      Kinder will be:
o   Practicing showing the shape of known melodies using manipulatives
o   Learning a new folksong
o   Rehearsing concert songs
·      1st Grade will be:
o   Learning a new melodic/solfege element and its relationship to other known solfege  
o   Applying and recognizing the new solfege in known songs
o   Learning their 3rd concert song
·      2nd Grade will be:
o   Practicing identifying note names on a staff with treble clef 
o   Practicing all known tempos and reading rhythms
o   Learning their 3rd concert song
