5th Grade:
In music this week 5th grade will be revisiting the piano keyboard as we identify the pattern within the major scale. We will also introduce a new composer of the month: Clara Schumann. As our Winter concert draws near we will begin to run-through and polish all of our concert music.
6th Grade:
This week 6th graders will continue to develop their knowledge of compound meter as we begin to apply syncopation in 6/8 and 9/8 time signatures. Our discussion of Opera will advance as well as we observe the new style of German opera innovated by Ricard Wagner in his opera Tristan und Isolde. Our concert preparations will continue as well as we begin to add nuance and discuss textual themes in the lyrics.
