Art - Mr. Donoho - Grade 4th - 6th

It's the last week before winter break!  Here's the plan for next week's art class:
4th Grade:
The students now have a better understanding of how to make 3-d shapes, but how does a person shade them?  This week we'll be covering how to shade in a sphere, because if you understand how the light works, you'll understand shading that much better.

5th Grade:
For 5th grade, the classes that aren't still working on the Van Gogh Portraits are moving on to studying Albrecht Durer, whose rendering of animals is legendary.  We'll be studying how to create the textures of fur, feather and claw with pencil, but we'll first need to draw the animals.  By using the gridding technique, students will begin the preliminary grid drawing, so after the break we can dive right into it.

6th Grade:
We're still working on finishing the MC Escher Spheres ((I know, it's taken a while, but look up MC Escher's "3 Spheres II".  We're trying to render that whole thing by hand with just pencil!)).  After this, the students will all have improved exponentially at shading.
